Albuquerque, New Mexico

The Retreat

Friday July 24th - Arrive in Albuquerque!

Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town

Change of Venue

Set in historic Old Town, Hotel Albuquerque blends Southwestern charm with resort comfort and is our home base for the weekend. Old Town's plaza, shops, and our Saturday dinner at High Noon are all an easy walk away.

ABQAX - Meet and Greet

We’ll kick off the weekend with a relaxed evening at ABQ Ax — a chance to unwind, share a few laughs, and connect with other dads in a low-pressure setting. It’s all about breaking the ice and starting the weekend together on the right foot.

Saturday July 25th

Sandia Crest Tramway

We’ll take the Sandia Peak Tramway to the summit of the Sandia Crest, enjoying sweeping views of Albuquerque and the surrounding mountains. The ride sets the tone for the day — creating space to transition from the everyday into the shared experience ahead.

Connection Hike

From the tram we will hike south along the Crest Trail at a relaxed, conversational pace. With intentional pauses and light prompts, the focus is on meaningful connection and shared experience along the trail.

High Noon Restaurant & Saloon

Tucked into one of Old Town's original adobe buildings, High Noon Restaurant and Saloon has been serving New Mexican classics since the 1970s. It's where we'll gather Saturday night for dinner, just a short walk from the hotel.

Sunday July 26th

Relax

After a full day of connection and adventure, Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town offers the perfect place to relax and recharge. Whether it’s unwinding by the pool, enjoying the spa, or simply taking in the views of the Sandias, this is your time to slow down.

Or Explore Old Town

Founded in 1706, Old Town Albuquerque is the city's historic heart, where adobe buildings, the centuries-old San Felipe de Neri Church, and local shops and galleries ring a shaded plaza. It's the backdrop for our weekend, with the hotel and Saturday dinner both just steps away.

The idea for DADventure began when Matt Rivard and I found ourselves sitting at a bar, drinking a beer and talking about the unique experience of being dads of children with Prader-Willi Syndrome. We recognized the need for a dedicated space where fathers could come together, build meaningful connections, and find strength in shared experience. This retreat was created to foster that community — one grounded in authenticity, camaraderie, and mutual support.
